Mary Blackmore
Services for Mary “Mae Mae” Blackmore will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.
Ms. Blackmore died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 47.
She was affiliated with St. James M.B. Church and was a private-duty home health nurse. She was a 1974 graduate of North Vicksburg High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Sr. and Sally Simpson Blackmore.
Survivors include a daughter, Felicia Rochell Blackmore of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charlie Blackmore Jr. and Robert Lee Blackmore, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Jo Ann Green of Vicksburg and Mary L. Saul of Houston, Texas; and other relatives, including the Banks, Brown, Mace and Simpson families of Vicksburg.
Edith H. Clanton
Edith H. Clanton died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Clanton was born in Leake County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1940. She was a former employee of the Vicksburg Garment Co. and U.S. Government. She worked at The Valley Dry Goods for 29 years.
She was a past member of the Women’s Breakfast Club and was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
Mrs. Clanton was preceded in death by her husband, James Clanton.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Scarsone of New Orleans and Betty Ann Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon Friday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Jennie Devine
PORT GIBSON Jennie Devine died Monday, May 5, 2003, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 89.
Mrs. Devine was a member of Tillman Chapel Church, where she served as a church mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hester Parker; four sisters; three brothers; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by six sons, Carl Devine and James Devine, both of Port Gibson, Lannie Devine and Jim Devine, both of Memphis, Johnnie Devine of Utica and Charlie Devine of Little Rock, Ark.; seven daughters, Willie Mae Thomas of Port Gibson and Mary Jackson, Marie Wilkerson, Yvonne Threat, Myrtis Morris, Erma Ray Myles and Ethel Brown, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; three brothers, Elma Parker and Allen Parker, both of Baton Rouge, and Matt Parker of Port Gibson; 43 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church with Elder Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove M.B. Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Friday until the service at the church.
Heather Marlene Hunt
Heather Marlene Hunt died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 41.
Born in McComb, Miss Hunt had been a Vicksburg resident for most of her life. She was the daughter of T. Lawrence and Evelyn Temple Hunt. She was an honor graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of Total Sound. She received a degree in English from Mississippi College.
She tutored English and Spanish and taught piano. She was a member of Triumph Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, T. Lawrence Hunt.
Survivors include her mother, Evelyn Temple Hunt of Vicksburg; a sister, Lisa Hunt Ingram of Jackson; three aunts, Esther Hunt Smith of McComb, Mary Temple Erwin of Hammond, La., and Lee Bailey Temple Jurgen of Madison; and cousins and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Triumph Church with Mike Fields, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Fred M. Abraham, Gary Dykes, Floyd Whitten, Bob LaGrone, John Lambert, Frank Weaver, William David Temple and Tony Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry B. Smith, Dave Harpole, Michael Temple, Ron Temple, Larry Noorman, Sam Haynes Jr., Michael Mitchell, Bill Hord, Carl Miller, Col. Walter W. Ott, Sam Heltzel, Don Murrell, Dunn Lampton, Dud Lampton, Gene Ott Jr. and Wess Ott.
