Rev. Hardie Lewis Sr.

The Rev. Hardie Lewis Sr. died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Heritage House Nursing Home. He was 83.
Rev. Lewis was a member of Mount Zion No. 4 Church and served as pastor of Ogben Baptist Church in Bentonia and Mount Olive Villanova M.B. Church of Vicksburg.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lewis Sr. and Lucinda Freeman Lewis; two brothers, Samuel Lewis and Tommy Lewis; and four sisters, Gertrude Walton, Virginia Havard, Catherine Nixon and Laura Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Estella Lewis of Vicksburg; four sons, Hardie Lewis Jr. and Edward Dale Wiggins, both of Jackson, Larry Lewis of Victorville, Calif., and Carl Wallace of Cordova, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Lawerence Newman of Vicksburg and Eddie Lewis Jr. of Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Blanche Johnson of Kansas City; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Gunnie McGee
PORT GIBSON Gunnie McGee died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. He was 62.
A resident of Port Gibson, Mr. McGee was a farmer and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Hollandale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marl McGee; and one brother, Robert McGee.
Survivors include two daughters, Alfreda McGee and Cynthia McGee, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, John Magee; two sisters, Sarah Lee Carroll and Clara McGee, both of Tillman, Miss.; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Providence Christian Church in Port Gibson with Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Sunday at the church.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Larry L. McWilliams Sr
Larry L. McWilliams Sr. died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at his home. He was 64.
A native of Chauncey, Ohio, Mr. McWilliams had been a Vicksburg resident since 1967. He was the son of the late Lewis and Eieleen McWilliams.
He served in the Army Air Force and retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad in 1999 with 30 years of service. He attended Wilderness Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Tyson.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Carol Parker McWilliams; two daughters, Laura M. Lollar of Vicksburg and Debbie Gaskill of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Larry L. “Scooter” McWilliams Jr. of Pearl; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. A.J. Stephens, pastor of Wilderness Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Butch Campbell, Robert V. Parker, Victor Parker, Edwin Roberts, Mark McGowan, Bill Purdom, Rusty Fuller and Casey Irwin.
Honorary pallbearers will be George David Theobald, Billy Greer, Melvin Pickett, L.H. Lee, Billy Mangum, Wade Flowers, Kenneth Ragland, Jimmy Buell, the staff of Patient Choice Hospice and Palliative Care, Whitney Doiron C.N.P., Dr. Martin Newcomb, Dr. Steven Zachow and Dr. Russell Barnes.

Octavia Young
Octavia Young died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 28.
Ms. Young was a member of Grove Street M.B. Church and was employed by Rainbow Casino. She attended Hinds Community College.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Frances Young.
Survivors include her fiancee, Carlos Richardson Sr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Treyvon Wilson, Stefan Young and Carlos Richardson Jr., all of Vicksburg; a daughter, Vantessa Wilson of Vicksburg; her mother, Flora Cole of Vicksburg; two sisters, Annastasia Cole and Tracey Lane, both of Vicksburg; a stepsister, Millicent Adams of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Annie Mae Wilson of Vicksburg.
