Abraham eliminated at D-III nationals by No. 2 seed

[5/19/03]Port Gibson native Jason Abraham survived a thrilling three-set match to win the opener of the Division III National Championship tournament.

The Sewanee College senior couldn’t pull off more magic on the tournament’s second day.

Abraham, a former standout player at Chamberlain-Hunt Academy, fell to second-seeded Kevin Whipple of host school Gustavus Adolphus, 7-6 (2), 6-0.

Abraham, who entered the tournament unseeded, finished the year 14-10.

He ended his four-year career at the Sewanee, Tenn., school with a 70-21 mark.
