Riding to the wall

A mile-long group of motorcyclists cruises along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 through Vicksburg Monday as part of this year’s POW-MIA Run For The Wall. The annual run honors soldiers missing in action and unaccounted-for prisoners of war. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world participate in the run, which begins each May on the West Coast and continues across the country with stops at memorials and veterans hospitals. On Monday, cyclists were escorted to Jackson by a group of Mississippi motorcyclists from the Blue Knights, Red Knights and the Christian Motorcyclists Association. The event ends Friday when the cyclists arrive at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The drive through Vicksburg was marked by an accident involving two Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers escorting the motorcyclists. Troopers Michael Davis, 31, of Morton, and Creed Mansell, 29, of Madison were treated and released from River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said. (C. Todd Sherman The Vicksburg Post)
