Johnnie Lee Clayton

Johnnie Lee Clayton died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 79.

Born in Meridian, Mr. Clayton was a resident of Vicksburg and retired from Anderson-Tully Lumber Mill Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae Pigford-Hall and Jessie James Clayton; a son, Alfred Lee Daniel Sr.; and a sister, Deloria Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Artimease Hebron Daniel Clayton of Vicksburg; three sons, John H. Daniel and Willie J. Daniel Sr., both of Vicksburg, and Eddie Daniel Jr. of Chicago; a brother, Charlie Hall III of Meridian; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Ned Gotthelf

Ned Gotthelf died Monday, May 19, 2003, in Decatur, Ala. He was 82.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Gotthelf was a former Yazoo City resident and had lived in Decatur for the past five years. He had owned Yazoo Apparel Shop, then worked as a real estate broker. He was the son of Harold and Adele Klaus Gotthelf Sr.

Mr. Gotthelf graduated from Carr Central High School in 1938 and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of the Hall of Fame. He was an officer in the Army Air Force in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Finch Gotthelf; and a brother, Harold Gotthelf Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Dell Felts of Decatur, and a son, John Gotthelf of Bitburg, Germany.

William Earl Pollard

DELHI William Earl Pollard died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 92.

Born in Bowie, Texas, Mr. Pollard was a resident of Delhi. He was a retired foreman with Columbia Gulf Transmission Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Delhi.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Timmons; his parents, William Bruce Pollard and Dora Katurah Pollard; and a brother, Hollis Eugene Pollard.

Survivors include his wife, Wenonah Sue Pollard of Delhi; a daughter, Kay Ellis of Monroe; three sisters, Joella McLeskey of Okmulgee, Okla., and Lola Broadduss and Jaunell Quick, both of Duncan, Okla.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Albert H. Ellis of Monroe and Callie Mae Nielsen of Pioneer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday iat Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Drew Timmons, Bill H. Ellis, Joe Ellis, Todd Chisnell, Don Ostrander and Larry Sanches.

Octavia Young

Services for Octavia Young will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grove Street M.B. Church, 707 Pierce St. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Ms. Young died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 28.

She was a member of Grove Street M.B. Church and was employed by Rainbow Casino. She attended Hinds Community College.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Frances Young.

Survivors include her fiancee, Carlos Richardson Sr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Treyvon Wilson, Stefan Young and Carlos Richardson Jr., all of Vicksburg; a daughter, Vantessa Wilson of Vicksburg; her mother, Flora Cole of Vicksburg; two sisters, Annastasia Cole and Tracey Lane, both of Vicksburg; a stepsister, Millicent Adams of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Annie Mae Wilson of Vicksburg.
