Celestine Thomas Moore

Celestine Thomas Moore died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Moore was a resident of Vicksburg and a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents, Isiah Thomas Sr. and Julia London; five brothers, Hosie Thomas Sr., Leo Thomas, Willie Thomas, Andrew Thomas and Isiah Thomas Jr.; and five sisters, Addie Lewis, Classie Gardner, Beatrice King, Estella Waites and Mildred Willis.
Survivors include four brothers, Oscar Thomas of Jackson, Willie Clarence Thomas of Vicksburg, Grant Thomas of Chicago, Ill., and Ted Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif.; and others, including Freddie Kaiser and Ruddie Kaiser and the London, Johnson and Lewis families, all of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gospel Temple M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.
Calvin Rogers
Calvin Rogers died Monday, May 26, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Rogers was a truck driver and a member of Bright Morning Star Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lobutha Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Rogers of Vicksburg; a son, Woodly Rogers of Gary, Ind.; two brothers, Solomon Rogers and Robert Rogers of Gary; nieces and nephews; and other relatives, including Ben Love and George Baker, both of Vicksburg, Zebadee Baker and Lillian Baker, both of Ashville, N.C., and Bernice Dorsey of Topeka, Kansas.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Pauline M. Tarnabine
Pauline M. Tarnabine died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.
A native of Sharkey County, Ms. Tarnabine was a resident of Vicksburg. She was a graduate of Silver City High School and a member of Ruth Sunday school class at Highland Baptist Church. For the past 17 years she had been employed at Waterways Experiment Station.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Tarnabine and David Tarnabine, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Lurline Campbell and Loryce Hawn, both of Vicksburg, and Bobbie Brown of Belzoni, Miss.; two grandchildren, Blake Tarnabine of Vicksburg and Christ Henderson of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Henderson and Ashley Henderson, both of Jackson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from 4-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bubba McNeil, Blake Tarnabine, Brad Gaines, Raymond Day, Wayne Dahl, Chris Henderson, Glen Hicks and Ronnie Monsour.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Hawn and members of the Ruth Sunday school class.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village.
Ella Ruth Wimes
VERO BEACH, Fla. Ella Ruth Wimes died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.
Mrs. Wimes was a resident of Vero Beach, Fla. She was a member of Apostolic Church of Jesus and was a retired custodian with Indian River Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. Wimes Sr.; a daughter, Barbara Wimes; her parents, Smiley and Nora Grimsley Johnson; four brothers, Charles Johnson, Sammie Johnson, Edward Johnson and Leroy Johnson; and five sisters, Annette Anthony, Agnes Bullock, Jennie Lee Wimes, Nora Mae Johnson and Alvester Bradley.
Survivors include two sons, Johthan Wimes and Charlie C. Wimes, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Betty Johnson of Vicksburg; three brothers, Johnny C. Johnson of Petersburg, Va., Willie Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., and Robert Johnson of Fort Pierce; a sister, Juanita Patterson of Rochester; 16 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Apostolic Church of Jesus in Fort Pierce under the direction of Stone Brothers Funeral Home.
