Calvin Butler
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Calvin Butler died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, as a result of a car accident. He was 48.
A resident of Birmingham, Ala., Mr. Butler was a member of Christ Temple Deliverance Church, where he served as an elder and minister of the men’s fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Butler Jr. and Willie Lee Whitfield Butler; and a brother, Dunnie Ray White.
Survivors include his wife, Rose M. Butler of Birmingham; two sons, Jamar James and Anthony Butler, both of Birmingham; five sisters, Mary Rose Washington of New Orleans, Annie Archer and Gale Butler, both of Port Gibson, and Avis Turner and Lula Wooding, both of Monticello, Miss.; eight brothers, Robert L. Butler and Albert Butler, both of Port Gibson, Percy Butler of New Orleans, Edward Butler and Larry Butler, both of Kenner, La., Charles Butler of Jackson and Dale Butler and James Butler, both of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services were at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Temple Deliverance Church with Theo Bailey officiating. Burial was at 2 p.m. today at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Arlington Funeral Home Inc. in Birmingham.
Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson has charge of local arrangements.
Mae F. Delligatti
MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. Mae F. Delligatti died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Donegal, Pa. She was 78.
Born in Acme, Pa., to the late William and Margaret Welty Freeman, Mrs. Delligatti lived in Mount Pleasant, Pa. She retired from Westinghouse in Youngwood, Pa., until her retirement. She was a member of AARP and Acme United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Delligatti; a daughter, Jacqueline Waddell of Acme; four sisters, Peg Markle of Vicksburg, Helen Shaw and Karen Mowry, both of Acme, and Louise Keslar of Indian Head, Pa.; a brother, William Freeman of York Springs, Pa.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home Inc., in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Terry Trudgen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park in Pennsville, Pa.
Visitation will be from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Robert Edward Duty
TRANSYLVANIA Robert Edward Duty died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Olive Branch Care Center in Tallulah. He was 74.
Born in Desha, Ark., Mr. Duty lived in Transylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Duty and Ida Duty ; two brothers, Sherman “Bud” Duty and William Duty; and two sisters, Magdalene Hughes and Sarah Jane Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Duty of Transylvania; a daughter, Ida Lisa Boyers of Seminole, Fla.; a stepdaughter, LouAnn McDaniel of Chandler, Texas; a stepson, Louis Harold Jones of Oak Grove; three brothers, Roger Dale Duty of Arbyrd, Mo., Donald Ray Duty of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Jerry Wayne Duty of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Lewis of Vallejo Calif., and Vondean Swink of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence with the Rev. Stowe Harbin officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Eubanks, Michael Eubanks, Nathan Lilly, David Lee, Allen Duty, Timothy Duty and Ralph Wayne Lovell.
Mary Ann Green
DELHI Mary Ann Green died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, La. She was 77.
Mrs. Green was born in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Daisy Coughran Parks; a grandson, Toby Green; her brother, Billy Ray Parks; and her sister, Marie Patrick.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Green of Delhi; one son, Melvin Wayne Green of Delhi; two daughters, Shirley Coody of St. Francisville, La., and Debbie Weatherly of Delhi; two brothers, Jack Parks of Rayville, La., and H.O. Parks of Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Edna White, Jane Joiner, Joyce Davis and Melvina Green, all of Delhi; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dunn Baptist Church in Dunn, La., with the Revs. Tony Smith and Eddie Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Delhi.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jim Nichols, Troy Thomas, John Thomas, Charles Parker, Otha Nielsen and Wayne Edwards.
James D. Holmes
Services for James “J.D.” Holmes will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Carroll Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 83.
Born in Bolton, Mr. Holmes served in the Army in World War II and was a retired brick mason. He was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and former Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Draper Holmes; a son, Birdsong Warren; his parents, Walter and Eva Evans Holmes; and a sister, Bessie Lee Holmes.
Survivors include a sister, Rutha Bell Level of Vicksburg; three sisters-in-law, Minnie Lindsey, Betty Jackson and Bertha Draper, all of Vicksburg; a niece whom he reared, Virgie Keathley of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Nancy Cook Winters
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Nancy Cook Winters died Monday, June 2, 2003, in Little Rock, Ark. She was 42.
Mrs. Winters was a resident of Lonoke, Ark.
She is survived by her husband, James Larry Winters of Lonoke; a son, Lee Andrew Winters of Lonoke; a daughter, Amanda Michelle Winters of Lonoke; her parents, John and Irene Cook of Vicksburg; her grandmother, Virginia Cook of Vicksburg; a brother, Brabston Cook of Vicksburg; two sisters, Laura Beiser of Clinton and Eleanor Murphy of New Hebron, Miss.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Tabor Methodist Church. Burial will be Friday at New Hebron Cemetery under the direction of Cabot Funeral Home in Cabot, Ark.
