HICO, Texas A Mass of Resurrection will be said for Thomas J. “Tom” Hogan at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home. Knights of Columbus prayers will be at 7 followed by rosary.

Mr. Hogan died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at his home. He was 80.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hogan had lived in Hico, Texas, since last year. He was the son of the late Oliver and Lucy Roddy Hogan and was a Navy veteran having served in World War II.

Mr. Hogan owned Hogan Sheet Metal Co., for 60 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Dixie Division of Company B, Culkin Lions Club, Sheet Metal Local No. 406, the Knights of Columbus and St. Paul Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Hogan; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Mary W. Hogan of Hico; two daughters, Marrianne Nsour of Fremont, Calif., and Susan Shepens of Richland, Wash.; six sons, Thomas Hogan of Hammond, La., Michael Hogan of Edwards, Jerome Hogan and Philip Hogan, both of Hico, and Martin Hogan and Dennis Hogan, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Danny Hogan of New Roads, La.; two sisters, Mable Ellington of Natchez and Lucy Sutterfield of Yazoo City; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Hogan, Michael Hogan, Jerome Hogan, Martin Hogan, Dennis Hogan, Philip Hogan, Otto King and Paul McThern.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Jacobson, Buddy McKay, Frank Bliss and members of the Knights of Columbus and Company B 106 Engineers Association, 31st Infantry “Dixie” Division.

Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius High School, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Ida L. Carroll Letney

Ida L. Carroll Letney died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 80.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Letney was the daughter of the late William Burns and Isabelle Whittington Carroll. She attended Old River School near Eagle Lake.

She was a store clerk for a number of years and worked for the Magnolia Mariner Towing Co. in Sioux City and New Orleans Barge Line as a cook. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, S.L. Letney; a brother, John C. Carroll; four sisters, Emma May Hinson, Isabelle Hampton, Sally Veyers and Irene Simpson; two infant children; and a grandson, Carl J. “Bubba” McWilliams.

She is survived by two daughters, Sybel Marie McWilliams of Mendenhall and Barbara Ann Blackledge of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Carla Smith, Sonia Lewis and Eric Blackledge; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Walker and Gene Jacks officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Roger Graham, Joe Crist, Robert Beyers, Justin Beyers, Don Muirhead and Johnny Stringer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray Carroll, Donnie Lewis, James Blackledge, Frank Smith, Dr. Anita Tribble, J.W. Carroll, Jimmy Carroll, Bobby Brett and the fifth-floor nursing staff at River Region Medical Center.
