Geneva Crawford

Geneva Crawford died Monday, June 23, 2003, in Merrillville, Ind. She was 60.

Mrs. Crawford was a member of Freedman Hall Baptist Church in Hermanville and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Dorsey and Gracie Banks.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Lee Crawford of Gary, Ind.; a daughter, Grace L. Mitchell of Merrillville; a sister, Augusta Burrell of Hermanville; a grandson; and other relatives and friends, including Lillie Burrell-Washington, Ed Burrell and Ophelia Richardson, all of Hermanville, and Adraine D. Burrell of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Freedman Hall Baptist Church with the Rev. J.F. Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Luvenia Edwards

JACKSON Luvenia Edwards died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Magnolia Nursing Center in Jackson. She was 89.

A former resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Edwards lived in Jackson. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Louis Alfred Banks; three brothers, Veronia Edwards, D.C. Edwards and Topeat Edwards; three sisters, Adele Edwards-Johnson, Willie Edwards-Trevillion and Mary Edwards; and a granddaughter, Teresa Banks.

Survivors include a daughter, Ollie Duckworth of Ridgeland, Miss.; five sisters, Essie King of Madison, Fla., Lee Tarleton of Dayton, Ohio, R.V. Barnes and Della Walker, both of Port Gibson and N. Elaine Kendrick of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Welcome Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Buck officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from noon until the service Saturday at the church.

Dwayne Talmadge Hosey

PORT GIBSON Dwayne Talmadge Hosey died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 44.

A resident of Port Gibson, Mr. Hosey graduated from Lanier High School in Jackson. He received a bachelor of science degree in agronomy from Alcorn State University in 1981. He was employed with Lanco Chemicals in Denver, Colo., and was a recruiter for Alcorn State University. He worked for the Department of Transportation in Port Gibson and the Internal Revenue Service in Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph “Fritz” Dobbins and Julia Dobbins.

Survivors include his parents, Josephine Dobbins-Hosey of Port Gibson and Jessie Hosey of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Edwin White of Jackson; and other relatives and friends, including Joseph Dobbins, Frank Dobbins, Vera Dobbins, Bernice Dobbins and Florene Humprey, all of Port Gibson, and Sanders Dobbins of Clinton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter A.M.E. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. John Quinn officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
