Joanne Fuller May
Services for Joanne Fuller May will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 this afternoon at the funeral home.
Ms. May died Monday, July 7, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 68.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Ms. May was a graduate of Jett High School. She was a retired assistant vice president of First National Bank and a member of Goodrum Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Janie Barker Fuller.
Survivors include a son, Billy Stribling of Vicksburg; two daughters, Donna Clark Smithhart of Brandon and Helen Adcock of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Cotton, Jay Tidwell, Roger Smithhart, Steve Adcock, Bill Clark, Raymond Kulhavy, Vernon Martin Jr. and Stephen Gambrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dixie Breithaupt, Walter May, John Oakes, Lesta Lee, Dr. William Wooten and Dr. John Williams.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Joseph Samuel Price
Services for Joseph Samuel Price will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Alban M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Weathersby officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service.
Mr. Price died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at his home. He was 89.
He had retired to his native Vicksburg following a career as a machine operator with Imperial Eastman. He was a deacon at Mount Alban M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lizzie Robb Price; five brothers, John Henry Price, William Price Jr., Alexander Price, Shedrick Price and George Price; five sisters, Gertrude Robb Washington, Julia Sanders, Mary-Alice Jenkins, Mizella Price and Corine Price.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Price; one daughter, Janice Price Winters of Vicksburg; two brothers, Edgar Price of Vicksburg and Walter Price of Chicago; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Lawrence E. Tanksley
CLINTON Lawrence E. “Larry” Tanksley died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at his home in Clinton. He was 67.
Mr. Tanksley was born in Hobbs, N.M., and moved to Jefferson County in 1942. He retired from the Marine Corps as a major in 1975 after serving for 22 years, including two 13-month tours of duty in Vietnam. He also served in Trinidad, the Mediterranean, Lebanon, Missouri, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia before retiring to Clinton.
Following his retirement from the military, he also worked for Engineering Services/Mercury Maps for 22 years, until 2000. And he was an honor student at Mississippi College.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Seckman Tanksley; two sons, Keith Tanksley of Nicholasville, Ky., and Dan Tanksley of Bedford, Texas; one brother, Webster Dudley Tanksley of Lorman; two sisters, Olivia Ann Clark of Fayette and Karyn Irons of Port Gibson; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southwest Christian Church on Mississippi 18 in Jackson. Burial, with full Marine Corps military honors, will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the National Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
