Malcolm Lee Carter

Malcolm Lee Carter died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Carter was born in Wilkinson county and later moved to Natchez. He was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Stampley Carter, his mother, Earline Flowers Carter of Natchez; two sons, Michael L. Carter of Sebastian, Fla., and Mark E. Carter of Vidalia, La.; three stepsons, George Peacock and Tim Hudson, both of Monroe, La., and Tim Hudson of Pattison, and a sister, Jessie M. Carlisle of Natchez.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Michael Herrin officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Family cemetery in Wilkinson County.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 517, Port Gibson, Miss., 39150 or Immanuel Baptist Church, 684 U.S. 61, Natchez, Miss., 39120.

Carl Leslie Jones

Carl Leslie Jones died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Chateau D’Arbornne Nurse Care Center in Farmerville, La. He was 90.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Martha Ann Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Lee Jones of Oak Grove, La.; two sons, Kenneth Jones of Jasper, Ark., and David Earl Jones of Kyle, Texas; a daughter, Bobbie Shows of Farmerville, La.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cox Funeral Home chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Ray, Rev. Dale Jordan and Rev. David Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Saul Shows, Ben Jones, Josh Sanchez, Joel Sanchez Jimmy Sanchez and Shaun Shows.

Katherine Thornton Puckett

Katherine Thornton Puckett died Thursday, July 18, 2003, at her home in Oak Grove, La. She was 71.

Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Leah Thornton.

She is survived by her husband, William Morris “Buddy” Puckett of Oak Grove; three daughters, Kathy Bass, Pattie Burch and Tammy Posey Tomblin, all of Oak Grove; three brothers, Pete Thornton and Joe Thornton, both of Fresno, Calif., and Cody Thornton of Utah; two sisters, Edith White of Ferriday, La., and Jackie Thornton of Fresno; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Church of God in Oak Grove with the Rev. Bobby G. Prueitt officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Bass, Mark Gammel, Bobby Ainsworth, Travis Martin, Don King and Billy Don Grice.

Ashley Brooke Taylor

Ashley Brooke Taylor died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at her home in Oak Grove, La., She was 10.

Ashley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wallace Mills.

She is survived by her parents, James Monroe and Sonya Rochelle Taylor of Oak Grove; a brother, Jonathan Taylor of Oak Grove, and grandparents, James and Brenda Taylor of Olla, La., and Larry and Sandra Fuller of Forest, La.

Services will be today at 4 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Ballard and Rev. Weley Bennett officiating. Burial will be at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.

Pallbearers will be Chris Mills, Ken Mills, John Mills, Joey Prudhomme, Gavin Prudhomme and Den Harris.
