Edna N. Hillman Murphy

OAK GROVE Edna N. Hillman Murphy died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. She was 87.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Greene County and moved to Chicot County, Ark., in 1930. She moved with her husband to West Carroll Parish in 1950 and lived in Kansas City, Mo., from 1965 until 1977 before returning to Kilbourne, La. She retired from nursing in 1977.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Murphy Sr.; a daughter, Nancy Murphy; three brothers, Lowell G. “Buck” Hillman, Esmond Olan “Preacher” Hillman and John Gaines Hillman; three sisters, Missouria Gardner, Odie A. Wooley and Pearl Rainwater; two granddaughters, Lisa Ann Murphy and Kimberly Sue Murphy; a great-grandchild, Lauren Paige Foster; and her parents, John G. and Hydle Demarris Sowell Hillman.

She is survived by three sons, George Murphy of Richmond, Mo., Ben Murphy of West Monroe, La., and Michael Murphy of Lexington, Ky.; three daughters, Doris Haley of Kilbourne, Leona Posey of Pioneer, La., and Mary Erwin of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Charlie Graham Hillman of Eunice, La.; four sisters, Hastine Humphries of Medford, Ore., Melda Welborn of Dallas, Arnetha Graves of Homer, La., and Rosa Lee Powell of Mena, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Kilbourne with the Rev. Bernard Duchesne officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery.

Henry Parker

Services for Henry Parker will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Springhill M.B. Church in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Parker died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.

He was a member of Cedar Grove M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious Parker and Louise Williams; a brother, Steve Williams; a sister, Myrtle Williams; and his godmother, Ollie Webster.

He is survived by two sons, Justin Parker of Vicksburg and Tyrone Green of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Marquita Parker of Vicksburg; four brothers, Walter Williams, Percy Williams, Freddie Williams and Steven Williams, all of Port Gibson; five sisters, Lucille Williams, Ollie Mae Williams, Erther Levette Williams and Claudianne Parker, all of Port Gibson, and Vera Williams of Pattison; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
