Geneva Tanner Engram
Geneva Tanner Engram died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her home. She was 63.
Mrs. Engram was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, retiring in 2001 from Waring Oil Company’s Interstate Store. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her father, James B. Tanner; a sister, Lorece McNamara; and her husband, Thomas A. Engram.
She is survived by her mother, Nora Ann Tanner of Vicksburg; a daughter, Lula Stagg of Vicksburg; three sons, J.W. Stagg, Steven A. Engram and J.W. “Bud” Smith, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Ruth Derryberry and Rosemary Peck, both of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Brumfield, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Elledge, James Irwin, Bubba Keen, Mark Dement, Jack Grant and Ricky Grant.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Keen, James Ingram and Howard Johnson.
Jeanette Judge
Services for Jeanette Judge will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Alban M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Weathersby officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mrs. Judge died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Judge was a member of Mount Alban M.B. Church and a former president of the usher board. She retired as a dietitian from Shady Lawn Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Judge Sr.; three sons, Melvin Judge, Freddie Judge and Clyde Judge; her parents, George Thomas and Alberta Holt Thomas; her brother, Steve Thomas; and eight sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Judge Jr. of Chicago, Edward Charles Judge of Hawthorne, Calif., and Kenneth Judge of Jacksonville, Fla.; six daughters, Maggie Reece of Detroit, Clementine Jones of Saginaw, Mich., Pauline Charles of Walnut, Calif., Sadie Kimbrew of Carion, Calif., Ruby Judge of Hawthorne and Janice Wildee of Vicksburg; one sister, Sallie Robertson of San Bernardino, Calif.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Raymond Julius Lewis
Raymond Julius Lewis died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.
Mr. Lewis was born in Bibb County, Ala., and had been a Vicksburg resident for a number of years. He was a former machinist at Pensacola Naval Air Force Base.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Joy Lewis; a daughter, Cherri Cochran; and his parents, T.S. and Florence Stewart Lewis.
Survivors include a son, Steve Lewis of Vicksburg; two sisters, Linne Hobbs of Jacksonville, Fla., and Audrey Sparks of Alabama; and two brothers, H.L. Lewis and Malcolm Lewis, both of Birmingham, Ala.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mobile, Ala.
Annie Lee Smith
Services for Annie Lee “Fiddie” Smith will be at noon Saturday at Hickory Tree Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Heritage House Retirement Center. She was 77.
Mrs. Smith retired after 33 years as a nutritionist with the Vicksburg Warren County School District. She was a member of Hickory Tree Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star Loving Chapel No. 3.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Lawson Smith Sr.; her son, Tom Walker Jr.; a sister, Rosie Rankin; and a brother, James Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Otha James Walker of Vicksburg and Landis Ray Walker of Aurora, Ill.; one brother, Lawson Smith Jr. of Aurora; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
