Dan W. Renfro

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. Dan W. Renfro, formerly of Vicksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn. He was 58.
Mr. Renfro was retired after working 35 years as a civil engineer. He served with the Corps of Engineers’ districts in Memphis, Vicksburg, Saudi Arabia, Elberton, Ga., and Fairbanks, Alaska.
He received a bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State University and a master’s from Memphis State University. A registered professional engineer, he was executive vice president of the Mississippi Valley Branch of Associated General Contractors. He had served on the Engineering Advisory Board for Mississippi State University.
He was a member of Germantown Baptist Church and a former deacon at Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Renfro of Germantown; a daughter, Emily Custer of Vicksburg; a son, Michael Renfro of Sumter, S.C.; one brother, Bob Renfro of Memphis; three sisters, Edna Jean Alberson of Ashland, Patricia Olsen of Fennville, Mich., and Frankie Sims of Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Germantown Baptist Church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Tippah County Memorial Park in Ripley.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at Germantown Baptist Church or the National Urea Cycle Disorders Foundation.
Jo Mary Scott
Jo Mary Scott died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 60.
A retired seamstress, Mrs. Scott was a member and former secretary at Cedar Grove M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Austin Sr. and Alice Austin Perkins, and a grandmother, Bessie Whitaker.
She is survived by a son, Robert E. Smith of Carrollton, Ky.; two daughters, Tonya S. Gregory and Tracey Scott, both of Vicksburg; five brothers, James Austin and Howard Austin, both of Vicksburg, Fulton Austin of Dallas, Arthur Williams of Detroit and Joseph Austin Jr. of Alexandria, La.; three sisters, Myrtis Wells of Vicksburg, Annie Austin of Chicago and Mae Francis Edwards of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
