Loydale Ligon Allen

Services for Loydale Ligon Allen will be at 11 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Clarksdale with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 59.

Born in Cleveland, Miss., Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Bobo High School in Clarksdale. She graduated in 1966 from Delta State University and lived for 15 years in Tupelo, where she was a member of the Junior Auxiliary and served with the hospital auxiliary.

She had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 17 years and was a former employee of Hayes Marketing Inc. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Walton Merritt Ligon and Dr. George C. Furr and Bessie Dale Ligon Furr.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar L. Allen of Vicksburg; her daughter, Carol Allen Popwell of Birmingham, Ala.; a son, Mark E. Allen of Brookhaven; five grandchildren; and other relatives, including Wayne S. Orr of Clarksdale.

Leroy Clark

MAYERSVILLE Leroy “D.D.” Clark died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at his home in Chicago. He was 65.

Mr. Clark was formerly of Rolling Fork.

He is survived by his wife, Silas Ann Clark; five sons, Aubrey Morganfield of San Antonio, Texas, Harlem Morganfield of Rolling Fork, and Kent Clark, Charles Clark and Calvin Clark, all of Chicago; two daughters, Vivian Ann Clark and Narvis Clark Bonner, both of Chicago; two sisters, Channie Reed and Mary Woods, both of Memphis; 33 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Monday at Mt. Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Aubrey Morganfield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.

Josephine Pinkins

ROLLING FORK Josephine Pinkins died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 68.

Mrs. Pinkins is survived by her husband, Edgar G. Pinkins Sr. of Rolling Fork; four sons, Edgar Pinkins Jr., Nathaniel Pinkins, Sylvester Pinkins and Claude Hayes, all of Rolling Fork; seven daughters, Luella Brown, Claretta Hite, Juanita Jackson, Willie M. Jackson, Vanalea Dennis and Patricia Pinkins, all of Rolling Fork, and Rosetta Fisher of East St. Louis, Ill.; her stepmother, Maberta Booker of Waukegan, Ill.; seven brothers, James Ratcliff Jr., David Booker and Dave Booker, all of Rolling Fork, Jeffery McBride of Waukegan, Ill., and Larry Booker, Floyd Booker and Michael McBride, all of Kenosha, Wis.; five sisters, Georgia Brazille and Odell Bell, both of Zion, Ill.; Edra Stewart of Waukegan, Ill.; Claudean Thompson of Kenosha, Wis., and Theresa Price of North Chicago, Ill.; 45 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and other relatives, including an uncle, Calvin Wilson of Chicago.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork, with the Rev. Frank Bailey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
