Terry Vermont Edison

CARY Terry Vermont Edison died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at his home in Cary. He was 41.

Mr. Edison is survived by a son, Terrance V. Edison of Valley Park; a daughter, Terricina S. Edison of Valley Park; his mother, Henrene Edison of Cary; his father, West Edison of Milwaukee, Wis.; three brothers, Wayne Edison and Westley Edison, both of Cary, and Tyrone Edison of Vicksburg; and one sister, Connie Edison-Dunigan of Milwaukee.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Mount Zion M.B. Church in Cary with Pastor Roosevelt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Community Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Thomas M. Ginn

COLUMBIA, Miss. Thomas M. Ginn died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Marion General Hospital. He was 75.

Mr. Ginn was born in Kokomo to the late Irvin and Minnie Ginn. He retired after 23 years as an officer in the Army, then owned several businesses. He was a member and former trustee at First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Men’s Bible class and Columbia Lions Club.

Mr. Ginn was a volunteer with the Marion County Food Pantry and Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edna Martin Ginn of Columbia; a son, Michael Ginn of Columbia; a daughter, Beth Mazzanti of Vicksburg; one sister, Donice Ginn Rogers; and five grandchildren.

Services were today at First United Methodist Church in Columbia with the Revs. Barry Dickerson and Jack Loflin officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Mazzanti, Drew Mazzanti, Stephen Mazzanti, Miles Ginn, Chris Rogers, Joel Martin and Charles H. Martin Jr.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

James Ronald Hagan Sr.

OAK GROVE James Ronald Hagan Sr. died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. He was 56.

Mr. Hagan was a lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Fredrick Hagan, and a brother, Thomas Brian Hagan.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bolding Hagan of Oak Grove; one son, James Ronald Hagan Jr. of Oak Grove, two daughters, Kayla Cupples and Lea Bass, both of Oak Grove; his mother, Euna Lea Hagan of Oak Grove; five brothers, Jerry Hagan and Larry Hagan, both of Oak Grove, Michael Hagan and Stephen Hagan, both of Monroe, and Kenneth Hagan of Eudora, Ark.; five grandchildren; and other relatives, including Edwina Bolding of Oak Grove.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Kilbourne, La.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Hagan, Jerry Hagan, Michael Hagan, Kenneth Hagan, Larry Hagan and Stephen Hagan.

Tom Tohill

Tom Tohill died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Hospice of Central Mississippi in Ridgeland. He was 50.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Tohill was a former resident of Greenville and had lived in Jackson for the past 10 years.

He was a 1971 graduate of H.V. Cooper High School. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Southeastern Louisiana University in Monroe, Millsaps College in Jackson and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in music and English. He also received a degree in nursing from Hinds Community College.

Mr. Tohill taught English at Vicksburg High School and music at All Saints’ Episcopal School. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, where he served as organist and choir master.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and other relatives, including the Brent family of Greenville.

Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ann Whitaker officiating, assisted by Harvey Smith.

Josie L. Williams

Services for Josie L. Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cool Springs M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Cool Springs M.B. Church, where she served on the Mother Board and was a member of the Burial Society. She was also a member of Loving Friendship No. 2 OES. She was a former employee of St. George Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Williams; her parents, Joseph and Sally West Johnson; a son, Herman L. Williams Sr.; and a brother, Emmitt Johnson.

Survivors include seven sons, Bobby L. Johnson, Sherman L. Williams, Jessie Watson, Derrick Chiplin and Herman Williams Jr., all of Vicksburg, Darryl Green of Tallulah and Larry Green of Milwaukee, Wis.; six daughters, Jerry A. Chiplin, Josie L. Green, Rose L. Williams, Latoya G. Williams, Umeika Williams and Tangala Chiplin Hull, all of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Levernita Harris of Chicago and Percy White, Jimmy Cotton, Verdell Edwards and Bridgit Williams, all of Vicksburg.
