Betty F. Gugert

Memorial services for Betty F. Gugert will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gugert, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, in Fort Myers, Fla. She was 83.

Mrs. Gugert was born in New Orleans to Harold Godwin and Marie Camors Faust. She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University. She received a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She settled with her husband in Vicksburg, where she worked for the Mississippi Welfare Department of Social Services for more than 10 years.

Mrs. Gugert was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Faust; a sister, Suzanne Faust; her husband, Frank “Jun” Gugert Jr.; and two sons, Frank Gugert III and Tom Gugert.

She is survived by a sister, Lucille Haynes of Fort Myers; four sons, Hand Gugert and Michael Gugert, both of California, George Gugert of Indiana and Gerald Gugert of New York; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Richard Hudson Jr.

Services for Richard Hudson Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove M.B. Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Hudson died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.

Mr. Hudson was a member of Mount Givens M.B. Church, where he served on the usher board. He was a veteran of the Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie E. Hudson.

He is survived by four sons, Dennis C. Hudson, Richard Hudson III and Gerald W. Hudson, all of Vicksburg, and Larry E. Hudson of Memphis; three sisters, Bertha Drake and Ernestine Greene, both of Vicksburg, and Celestine Hall of Saginaw, Mich.; and six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
