Betty F. Gugert

Memorial services for Betty F. Gugert will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gugert, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, in Fort Myers, Fla. She was 83.

Mrs. Gugert was born in New Orleans to Harold Godwin and Marie Camors Faust. She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University. She received a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She settled with her husband in Vicksburg, where she worked for the Mississippi Welfare Department of Social Services for more than 10 years.

Mrs. Gugert was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Faust; a sister, Suzanne Faust; her husband, Frank “Jun” Gugert Jr.; and two sons, Frank Gugert III and Tom Gugert.

She is survived by a sister, Lucille Haynes of Fort Myers; four sons, Hank Gugert and Michael Gugert, both of California, George Gugert of Indiana and Gerald Gugert of New York; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jessie McBride

Jessie McBride died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.

Mrs. McBride was born in Warren County and lived in Vicksburg for most of her life. She was a homemaker.

She was a member and a mother of Pleasant Green M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie McBride; her mother, Beatrice Banks; her father, James Banks; and her sister, Darlie Mae Banks.

Survivors include two cousins, Louis McCollough and Amanda Bryant; Bertha Baker-Williams; and the McCollough and Richardson families of Greenville.

W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home, Inc. has charge of the arrangements.

Viola C. Morgan

Viola C. Morgan died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 97.

Ms. Morgan was a member of St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church, where she served on the mother board.

Survivors include a stepson, Eugene Morgan of Vicksburg; her cousin and caregiver, Mary Barnes of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
