Josephine Marshall Burse
BOLTON Josephine Marshall Burse died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Jackson. She was 91.
Mrs. Burse was a resident of Bolton.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Griffin Price of Jackson; a son, Levearn Marshall of Edwards; her caregiver, Rosie Davis of Bolton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Elizabeth M.B. Church in Bolton. Burial will follow at Bolton City Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Saturday at Bolton Funeral Home.
Dwain Lavern Jackson
Services for Dwain Lavern Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Parish Center. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was 29.
A self-employed construction worker, Mr. Jackson was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church. He was a veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Donerson Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Marsha Jackson Jenkins and Larry Donerson Sr., both of Vicksburg; his stepfather, L.C. Jenkins of Vicksburg; three sons, Dwain Jackson Jr., Tre’Shawn Little and Jakhari Jackson, all of Jacksonville; three daughters, Alexis Green and Tiara Ellis, both of Vicksburg, and LaToya Burks of Atlanta; five brothers, Corey Jenkins, Larry Donerson Jr. and Cordell Jenkins, all of Vicksburg, Eric Andr Jackson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lee Charles Jenkins of Atlanta; five sisters, LaShanda Townsend of Jacksonville and Shanell Jenkins, Beonica Jenkins, Cristy Donerson and Deanna Donerson, all of Vicksburg; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Donerson of Vicksburg; his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Willie Mae Grissom and Willie Joe and Rosie Hunt, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.
Betty Sue Pierce
Betty Sue Pierce died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 47.
Ms. Pierce had served as head cook at Goldie’s Trail Bar-B-Q.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Pierce and Tiawana Pierce, both of Vicksburg, and Georgina Pierce of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Carl Pierce of Vicksburg; five sisters, Barbara Williams of New York City and Carrie Pierce, Irene Kenney, Hazel Scott and Kimberly Smith, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Alberta East and Isabel Heath, both of Vicksburg.
Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Faye Myers Stringer
Faye Myers Stringer died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.
A native of Terry, Miss., Mrs. Stringer had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Eric Gerald and Vera Hupperich Myers.
She retired from the accounting department at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Stringer Sr.; and a son, William G. “Jerry” Stringer.
Survivors include a son, James H. “Jim” Stringer Jr. of Byram; three brothers, C. “Bill” Myers of Lampasas, Texas, Eric Myers of Terry, Miss., and Dale Myers of Many, La.; four sisters, Kathleen Tisdell of Brandon, Mable Sanders of Vicksburg, Sue Parker of Yazoo City, and Ouida Ellington of Clinton; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Acres Cemetery with Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Myers, Josh Myers, Jon Derouen, Allan Coleman, Michael Coleman, Kenneth Burkett, Toby Gatewood and Walter Ellington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Grover Sanders, Shelby Bridges and Bobby Mosley.

Ellis L. Strong
UTICA Ellis L. Strong died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 76.
A resident of Utica, Mr. Strong was a retired business man. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Utica Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Curtis Strong of Utica; three sons, Lamar Strong and Jerry Strong, both of Utica, and Larry Strong of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Brenda Benson of Ridgeland and Barbara Thomas of Madison; three sisters, Rushelle Pape of Ridgeland, Jean McDonald of Sacramento, Calif., and Elaine Berg of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Utica United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lucian Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Webster Brister, Bill Dreher, William A. “Bubba” Williams, Ray Skates, Argle Pennington and Michael Strong.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Gray, Judy McGuffee, Doug Knight, James Gilbert and William Gilbert.
