About 2 p.m., police attempted to stop a white Ford truck with an unidentified driver and two passengers in the truck bed driving recklessly west on Clay Street, said Lt. Bob Donahue of the Vicksburg Police Department.

When the officer pulled the truck over at an abandoned building on Mission 66, the driver stopped for a moment then sped off again.

Police chased the truck south down Spring Street to a dead end. When the driver reached the end, he attempted to drive up the embankment onto the railroad tracks, said Donahue.

The driver fled from the truck, leaving the passengers in the truck bed. Donahue said the truck then began rolling backwards down the hill.

Tiffany was injured when the rolling truck struck the vehicle he was standing behind, knocking him backwards onto the windshield of Alice Hayes’ car, which was parked at her home, Hayes said.

She said the truck’s impact caused a domino effect with damage to two other vehicles parked along the side of the street.

Police Chief Tommy Moffett said no arrests were made.

Donahue said the driver’s reason for attempting to evade police in the beginning is unknown, but the crime is still under investigation.

A River Region Medical Center spokesman could not be reached to comment on Tiffany’s condition.
