Everett C. Knight

UTICA Everett C. Knight died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 82.

Mr. Knight was a lifelong resident of Utica. A World War II veteran, he served in the 34th division of the Army. He received the Distinguished Service Cross, Valor Cross, Bronze Star, 34th Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster.

He was a retired farmer and member of the Midway Church of Christ, DAV, VFW, Amvet and Legion of Valor.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Conrad Knight of Utica; one son, Danny Ray Knight of Brookhaven; four daughters, Donna Kaye Mobley of Utica, Eva Allen of Columbus, Retha Cain of Vicksburg and Cathy Keller of Conyers, Ga.; a brother, Douglas Knight of Utica; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with Donnie Cain officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Utica Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Knight, Kyle Michael, Lee Molaison, Kevin Keller, Justin Keller, Nathan Allen, Zack Mobley and Greg Hoffman.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Williams, Doug Knight Jr., Perry Knight, Dennis Manor, Russell White and Willard Cagle.

Memorials may be made to the Midway Church of Christ.

Emma Gene McKenzie

Emma Gene McKenzie died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 80.

Born in Oxford, Mrs. McKenzie had lived in Vicksburg since 1948. She was a former employee of the Vicksburg Infirmary and retired from Mercy Hospital.

She was a member of New Vision Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Ward McKenzie.

Survivors include a son, Jay McKenzie of Vicksburg; two daughters, Joyce Richards of Vicksburg and Betty Lane of Wickliffe, Ky.; one sister, Edna Mary Young of Senatobia; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy McKenzie, Todd Lane, Michael Richards, Chris Stewart, Tony Davidson and Martin Pace.
