Willie Marie McMillan

OAK GROVE Willie Marie McMillan died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at North Monroe Hospital. She was 75.

Born in Marthaville, La., Mrs. McMillan was a resident of Oak Grove. She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Bastrop and retired as a rural-mail carrier in West Carroll Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Buford and Alzada Griffin, and a brother, Billy Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Lelon M. McMillan; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Ray Rouse of Oak Grove; a brother, Murlin McMillan of Waco, Texas; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with Waymon Swain and Joe Nichols officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Brister, Rickey Brister, Ryan Brister and Wayne Yates.

Neal Biedenharn Jr.

EDWARDS Neal Biedenharn Jr. died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home in Edwards. He was 72.

Mr. Biedenharn had been a resident of Edwards for most of his life. He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalee Morrissey Biedenharn of Edwards; two sons, Harry “Trip” Biedenharn III and Tom Biedenharn, both of Edwards; a daughter, Kristy Biedenharn of Edwards; a brother, Don Biedenharn of Vicksburg; a sister, Sherry Haron of Vicksburg; and a grandson, Ben Biedenharn of Hammon, La.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dan Askew, Dennis Gray, Roy Goode, Lee Pennebaker, Louis Montgomery and Payton Fulgham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephanie Miller, Lynn Beard, Lou Bertha Comms, Mary Singleton and Theresa Strong Blackmon.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, 450 Town Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Lenard Powell

JACKSON Lenard Powell died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Regency Inn in Jackson. He was 45.

A former resident of Rolling Fork, Mr. Powell lived in Jackson.

He is survived by a son, Tevin Cubit Powell of Jackson; his fiancee, Evelyn Cubit of Jackson; two brothers, Patrick Powell and Waymon Powell, both of Vicksburg; a stepbrother, Robert Ousley of Egremont, Miss.; two sisters, Deborah Johnson of Hattiesburg and Patricia Powell of Jackson; a stepsister, Jessie Clark of Greenville, Miss.; and friends, including Tawana Garrette.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Mount Ollie M.B. Church in Egremont. Burial will follow at Danover Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at the funeral home.

Kendra Thorpe

PORT GIBSON Kendra Thorpe died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson as a result of an automobile accident. She was 13.

Miss Thorpe was a resident of Port Gibson.

Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Janice Flower-Thorpe of Port Gibson; maternal grandparents, David and Mildred Flowers of Port Gibson; her paternal grandfather, Darrell Thorpe of Red Lick, Miss.; five sisters, Victoria Thorpe and Kedra Thorpe, both of Port Gibson, Mary Jane Thorpe of Fayette, Delisa Polk of Natchez and Tasha Selman of Pattison; a brother, Anthony Short of Fayette; and other relatives and friends.

Services were at 1 p.m. today at Forrest Grove Christian Church in Pattison with Anthony Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Keary-Flower’s Memorial Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc.
