William E. Campbell

OPELOUSAS, La. William E. “Bill” Campbell died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Senior Nursing Home in Opelousas, La. He was 76.

A native of Mount Olive, Miss., Mr. Campbell was the son of the late William A. and Willie Mangum Campbell. He was a former resident of Vicksburg and Vidalia, La. He retired as a supervisor at South Central Bell Telephone Company in 1985. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by two sons, James C. Campbell and Garland W. Campbell, both of Sealy, Texas; four grandchildren, Nicky Campbell, Max Campbell, Brad Campbell and Jamie Campbell; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Parson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be E.L. Martin, E.K. Westmoreland, Billy Geoghagn, Troy Goss, Tommy Oaks and William Henry Henley.

Bertha Lee Keyes

TALLULAH Bertha Lee Keyes died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi, La. She was 85.

Born in Crowville, La., Mrs. Keyes was a resident of Tallulah and a homemaker. She retired from Fred’s Department store in 2000 after 21 years of service. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Keyes; and two grandsons, Dwayne H. Keyes and David D. Keyes.

Survivors include a son, Col. Billy G. Keyes of West Monroe, La.; a daughter, Shirley M. Wilson of Tallulah; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece; and other relatives and friends, including Bonnie Holmes, Lavonne Givens and William Givens, all of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Revs. Cletus Moak and John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be William Givens, Eric Givens, Lloyd T. Erwin, Mark Homes, Ray Jobe and Shelby Holmes.

Ross Provance

Ross Provance died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home. He was 73.

A native of Natchez, Mr. Provance lived in the Lorman area most of his life. He had lived in Vicksburg for the past 13 years and worked for the Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association as a line superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lee Provance.

Survivors include his wife, Vannie Provance of Vicksburg; three sons, Tommy Provance of Port Gibson, Steve Provance of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tim Provance of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Brenda Huffman of Allen, Texas; a brother, O.D. Provance of Lorman; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hardy, Jimmy Wallace, Larry Loyd, Jimmy June, Kirby Rushing and Percy McCaa.
