An angel watches over Baby Jesus in a nativity scene as the sun sets Monday at the home of Sylvia and Erwin Baylot at 7107 Mississippi 27. Sylvia Baylot, a pastor of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Yazoo City and Thornton United Methodist Church in Thornton, said the wooden pattern is a replica of a nativity set that adorned the lawn of North View United Methodist Church on Sky Farm Avenue before its closing in 1997. “There is not another set like this,” she said. “With so many pieces, it makes you think about who was there to witness the birth of Christ.” Baylot said she hopes the scene will remind people that Christmas is all about Christ’s coming for the world. “He lives his life through us now,” she said.(Melanie Duncan Thortis The Vicksburg Post)
