Paula Carter
CARY Paula Carter died Friday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 43.
A resident of Cary, Ms. Carter was an assembler at Calsonic Inc.
She is survived by her mother, Celestine Carter of Cary; a son, Antoine Carter of Cary; a daughter, Shontae Carter of Cary; two brothers, Lawyer Carter III and Donald Carter, both of Cary; and three sisters, Mary Ann Davis of Alcorn State, Dorothy Woodard of Chicago and Joyce Norton of Killeen, Texas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion M.B. Church in Cary with Pastor James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 until 7:30 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Truly Chambliss Jr.
Truly Chambliss Jr. died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.
Mr. Chambliss was employed at Anderson-Tully Co. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Truly and Rose Chambliss.
He is survived by a son, Paul Chambliss of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Amy Chambliss of Omaha; and friends and other relatives, including Lena Gaskin and members of the Powell family of Vicksburg.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Edna Faye Edwards
HERMANVILLE Edna Faye Edwards died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Hospice Ministries Inc. in Ridgeland. She was 50.
A resident of Hermanville, Mrs. Edwards was an accounting clerk at Sears Roebuck & Co., in Dallas.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus Edwards of Port Gibson; and two sons, Larry Lockett III and Donald Lockett, both of Dallas.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Albert Bateman Frasier Sr.
LAKE PROVIDENCE Albert Bateman Frasier Sr. died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003. He was 81.
Born in Verde, La., Mr. Frasier was a resident of Monticello near Lake Providence. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in a number of European campaigns. He retired as a mechanic with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
He was a charter member of Monticello Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Frasier was preceded in death by his parents, Zachariah Frasier and Artie Tennessee Stroud Frasier.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Leeper Frasier of Lake Providence; a daughter, Vickie Walker of Monroe; three sons, Albert B. Frasier Jr. and Danny B. Frasier, both of Lake Providence, and Michael O. Machen of Haughton, La.; two sisters, Virginia Choat of St. Joseph and Kathryn Thompson of Huntsville, Texas; and 13 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Monticello Southern Baptist Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Rocky Stephens officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Herringville Cemetery in the Monticello community under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Visitation will begin at 5 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Frasier, Greg Frasier, Craig Frasier, Josh Frasier, Jason Lott and Brent Lester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Irving Arledge, Larry Arledge, Larry Vickery and Bubba Smitherman.
Mamie Lee Hataway
Mamie Lee Hataway died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 93.
Mrs. Hataway was a native of Brokenbow, Okla., and had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 64 years. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel G. and Evie Francis Moore Boles. She was a member of Berachah Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Enzley Hataway; a son, Rufus Melton Hataway; and a brother, Jimmy Green.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Ray Hataway of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donald Enzley Hataway of Lafayette, La.; two daughters, Martha Beatrice Brooks and Nora Jean Pellegal, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Bill Boles of Carthage, Texas, and Maurice Boles and Curtis Shaw, both of Brokenbow; and 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Cresswell, pastor of Berachah Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill McMurry, Howard McMurry, Travis McMurry, Dean McMurry, Jake McMurry and John Mathis.
