James Howard Prince Sr.

FOREST James Howard Prince Sr. died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in Pioneer. He was 65.

Mr. Prince was a lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish. He was employed as the warden for the West Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office for the past 20 years. He had previously served as an auxiliary deputy for many years.

He had worked as a mechanic for Scott Truck and Tractor for 15 years. He also maintained a family farm.

He was a charter member and a lifetime member of the West Carroll Chapter of the National Rifle Association. He served as president of the Goodwill Water Association.

He was a member of the Oak Grove Lodge No. 284 F&AM and had been a past master of the Pioneer lodge. He was a member of the Barak Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Beatrice and Arnold Franklin Prince.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Prince; two sons, Howard Prince Jr. and Karl Prince, both of Angola, La.; one daughter, Karen Christine Ross of St. Francisville, La.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Revs. Jason Strong and Tony Smith and Kenneth Burke officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until the service.

Pallbearers will be West Carroll Parish Sheriff’s deputies.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Haley, Kirby Russell, James Kirby and Sidney Davis.
