Martha Haney Martin, or “Miss Martin” to more than 500 students, has been a preschool teacher and director at First Presbyterian Preschool for 38 years. The 75-year-old Vicksburg native has spent about 25,500 hours with 4- and 5-year-olds. She loves it. Today, Martin is spending time with the children of some of her earlier students. And, when this school year is finished, she’ll be looking forward to another year to spread herself in her special way, teaching students about music, current events, reading, writing and arithmetic, manners and, most of all, respect for others and themselves.(Melanie Duncan Thortis The Vicksburg Post)
