[2/4/04]If Tuesday night was Tiffany Hubbard’s last home game, the Vicksburg High senior left with a lasting memory.

Hubbard scored a game-high 14 points, snagged 19 rebounds and had five steals to lead the Missy Gators (15-11) to a 58-48 win over Hinds AHS on Senior Night.

“We’re hoping it’s not her last home game,” said Vicksburg coach Mike Coleman, whose team could host a Class 5A satellite game by winning the Division 6-5A tournament. “It is Senior Night and the last regular season home game and she will be missed.

Sophomore Kristin Ellis poured in 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Erica Woodson scored 11 in the victory.

“They were really aggressive in the first and second halves,” said Hinds AHS (13-13) coach Bruce Baker. “They are very good, well coached team.”

The Lady Bulldogs, who were starting three freshmen, were led by Iyuanna Brown’s 12 points.

Jerrica Thomas and Dominque Good scored 11 each in the loss.

The Missy Gators used a 17-0 run in the first quarter to take a 17-6 lead going into the second quarter, and led 33-16 at the half.

Hinds, though, rallied several times to get the lead down to as little as eight points, but each time Vicksburg held off the rally.
