Services for Dorothy E. “Dot” Parker were at 10 a.m. today at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Anderson, pastor of Satartia Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Parker died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 61.

Born in Warren County, she was the daughter of William “Bill” and Margaret Matthews Burton. She was a licensed practical nurse and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Parker of Vicksburg; a daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” Hardin of Vicksburg; an uncle, James R. Hartley of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; two nephews and a niece.

Pallbearers were Jinx Smith, J.O. Smith III, Patrick Smith, Sonny Carley, Sidney Parker and Greg Bryan.

Honorary pallbearers were Betty Diggs and employees of the dredge, Jadwin, and the mat sinking unit.

Ezekial Rankin

LORMAN Ezekial Rankin died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his home in Lorman. He was 86.

Mr. Rankin was a member and deacon at St. Mark M.B. Church in the Blue Hill community. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of Sunrise Lodge No. 579.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Captain and Rosetta Brinner.

Mr. Rankin is survived by his wife, Hystercine Rankin of Lorman; three sons, Teddy Wesley Rankin and Ezekial Rankin Jr., both of Denver, Colo., and Marvin Rankin of Wayne, Mich.; four daughters, Myrtis Marie Rankin of Memphis, Regina Rankin of Lorman, Deborah Ann Rankin of Talladega, Ala., and Bonnie Denise Jones of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a brother, Albert Rankin of Lorman; two sisters, Canary Brinston of New Orleans and Elisa Rankin of Lorman; 13 grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Joseph Rogers of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Roosevelt Harrett officiating, assisted by Walter Chambers. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with family hour from 6 until 8 and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mattie M. Roscoe

Services for Mattie M. Roscoe will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Fitler.

Mrs. Roscoe died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at River Region West Campus. She was 92.

A homemaker, Mrs. Roscoe was a member of St. James M.B. Church in Fitler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roscoe; her parents, William and Lockie Fields Fitzgerald; two brothers, William Fitzgerald and Charlie Fitzgerald; and two sisters, Amanda Diggs and Laura Saints.

She is survived by two sisters, Alena Smith of Chicago and Hattie Cole of Vicksburg; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives, including members of the Clark, Cole, Rather and Naylor families of Vicksburg.

Jeradi Elaine Skinner

Jeradi Elaine Skinner died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 14.

A native of Wilson, N.C., Jeradi had lived in Vicksburg for three years. She was a ninth-grader at Warren Central High School, where she played the flute and was a member of the National Honor Society.

She was a member of Eagle Lake United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Leslie and Ruby Shannon.

Survivors include her mother, Gina Shannon of Vicksburg; three brothers, Randell Skinner and Jeffrey Skinner, both of Vicksburg, and Robert Skinner of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Tara Collins of Vicksburg; her grandparents, Eric Shannon of Collinsville, Okla., and Ron and Lois Roger of Okemah, Okla.; her great-grandparents, Velena and Calvin Carpenter of Okemah; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauren Porter, pastor of Eagle Lake United Methodist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Loca N. Watkins

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. Loca N. Watkins died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Neshoba County Nursing Home. She was 91.

A resident of Philadelphia, Miss., Miss Watkins was a former Vicksburg resident. She was a retired retail sales clerk and a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Alma Fryery of Vicksburg and Nettie Ford of Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon Friday at John E. Stephens Funeral Home in Philadelphia with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Madden Cemetery in Leake County.

Pallbearers will be Virgil Green, Tony Green, Vern Green, Charlie Brown, Wayne Foy and Ed Killen.
