Dorothy M. Klare

Dorothy M. Klare died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at her home. She was 95.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Miss Klare was the daughter of the late Ferris Charles and Sophie Marcus Klare. She was a retired bookkeeper and officer at Merchants Bank.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine E. Klare and Gertrude K. Bazsinsky.

Survivors include a niece, Klare B. Sullivan of Clinton; and three great-nephews, Joseph Ferris Sullivan of Clemmons, N.C., David Mark Sullivan of Jackson and Michael Wayne Sullivan of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Peter deVries and her great-nephews.

Mary Jewel Hansford

OAK GROVE Mary Jewel Hansford died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at West Carroll Care Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Hansford was born in Oxford, Ala., and was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hansford; her parents, Ernest Clyde and Nannie Mae Collier; a brother, Bill Collier; a sister, Sally Green; a stepbrother, Buddy Fudge; and a stepsister, Margaret Fudge Nations.

She is survived by a stepson, Charlie Hansford of Texas; a sister, Frances Evelyn Fuller Sweat of Forest, La.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bible Missionary Church in Monroe with the Rev. Stuart Hallam officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Barry Dowd, John Dowd, Paul Taylor, Mathan Taylor, Clark Hallam and Danny Neal.

Sybil Maxine LeGuin

PIONEER, La. Sybil Maxine LeGuin died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Waldley Memorial Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was 80.

Born in Simpson County, Mrs. LeGuin was a resident of Pioneer, La.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland S. LeGuin Sr.; one son, Roland S. “Butchie” LeGuin Jr.; a grandson, Roland Scott LeGuin; and her parents, Acie Bennett Brown and Mary Frances Edmonson Brown.

She is survived by a son, Richard LeGuin of DeKalb, Texas; two daughters, Maxine Wise of DeKalb and Brenda Lewis of West Monroe; one sister, Pauline Smith of Forest; and nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Stowe Harbin and Christopher Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Red Wing Cemetery near Oak Grove.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Eric Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Chris LeGuin, Dion Auger, Acie Brown and Michael Putman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Waggoner, Buck Skipper and Rex Skipper.

Hazel Bernice Nichols

Hazel Bernice Nichols died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

A native of Holly Bluff, Mrs. Nichols had lived in Jackson for 42 years before moving to Vicksburg in 1998. She was a member of The Church of God in Vicksburg.

Survivors include two daughters, Edna Davis Leist and Ruby Nerissa Lancaster, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Earl David Nichols and Elmer Doyle Nichols, both of Jackson; two sisters, Annie Lacy Dungan of Terry and Mag Fedele of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
