Ronnie Bruce Gales

FAYETTE Ronnie Bruce Gales died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was 51.

A resident of Fayette, Mr. Gales was a member of Mount Zion Church of God in Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; a brother, Acy Gales; and a sister, Blanche Gales.

Survivors include his parents, James and Lucinda Gales, both of Fayette; two brothers, Robert Gales of Fayette and Franklin Gales of Kileen, Texas; two sisters, Mary Thipps of Lexington, Miss., and Angela Hampton of Batesville, Ark.; and other relatives and friends, including Monroe Perkins, Alex Duck and Mary Hall, all of Fayette.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery with Percy Herrington officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law.

Martha S. McAuley

Martha S. McAuley died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Born in Hattiesburg, Mrs. McAuley had been a resident of Natchez before moving to Vicksburg in 1966. She was retired from The Street Clinic and had been a volunteer with the Good Shepherd Clinic. She was a member of the Deborah Sunday school class at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, William C. McAuley of Vicksburg; two sons, Dan McAuley of Rockwall, Texas, and Donald Clyde McAuley of Vicksburg; a daughter, Martha Jane Wright of Houston, Texas; two brothers, John Wiley Sturdivant of Wilmington, Del., and William Dempsey Sturdivant of Ridgeland, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jack Jordan, Bertron Hamill, Duane Staggs, Rick Tillotson, Kevin Garner and Tom Hill.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 7 Sunday school department at First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

John Rodgers Robbins

John Rodgers Robbins died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at his home. He was 86.

Born in Brandon, Mr. Robbins was a resident of Vicksburg. He was a graduate of Utica High School and had attended Hinds Junior College. He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II.

A retired pilot, Mr. Robbins had worked for Rogers Geophysical Exploration in Houston, Texas, Kenya and Somalia. He was a member of Edwards United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Katherine Roesch and Virginia Sterret; his parents, Edwin David and Laura Rodgers Robbins; two brothers, Clark Edwin Robbins and Cecil Frank Robbins; and two sisters, Ruth Robbins Roberts and Anna Robbins Ragan.

Survivors include a son, John Rodgers Robbins Jr. of Monroe; a stepdaughter, Cathy Rawdon of Albuquerque, N.M.; a stepson, Greg Sterret of El Paso, Texas; and other relatives, including Jo Ruth McClain of Edwards, Marianna Fields of Vicksburg and Sue McKnight of Jackson.

A memorial service will be later at Edwards United Methodist Church.

Henry E. Stewart

Henry E. Stewart died Monday, March 1, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 48.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Stewart was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church. He was a 1974 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He had attended Alcorn State University and was a 1990 graduate of Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Booker T. and Perry Lowe Stewart; maternal grandparents, Sylvester Lowe Sr. and Priscilla Irvin Lowe; and paternal grandparents, Elnora Stewart and Henry Stewart Sr.

Survivors include three brothers, Tyrone Stewart of Columbus, S.C., Willie Stewart of Detroit and Paul Alen Stewart of Vicksburg; four sisters, Freda S. Young, Winnie S. Stewart, Deborah S. Betts and Beverly Ann Stewart, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Odessa Elmore and Ospy L. Dorsey, both of Vicksburg.
