VHS scores 21 in fifth inning for 29-4 victory

[3/3/04]Vicksburg came within two batters of batting around three times in the fifth inning, and took advantage of 23 walks for the game in a 29-4 thumping of Hattiesburg on Tuesday.

The Missy Gators (2-3) scored 21 runs in the fifth to end the game because of the mercy rule.

Courtney Prentiss had two singles and a double, and Shannon Arnold had a double and a triple to lead VHS, which will host Clinton Thursday.

Whitney Smith struck out eight and walked two to earn the victory.

The game was tied 1-1 going into the third inning, but the Missy Gators scored six in the third and one in the fourth to lead 8-3 going into the fifth.
