John Fisher Campbell

FLOWOOD John Fisher Campbell died Monday, March 8, 2004, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 68.

Mr. Campbell was a resident of Flowood. He was born and reared in Vicksburg. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and attended the University of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jane Fisher Campbell.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Campbell of Flowood; three daughters, Cole Smith of Southaven, Julie Wilson of Oxford and Kim Miller of Blue Springs, Miss.; two brothers, Jerry Campbell and Frank Campbell, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Mary Campbell Stewart of Carlisle, Pa.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

His body is being donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Aaron Cosby Sr

Aaron Cosby Sr. died Monday, March 8, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Cosby was a member and deacon of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station after 33 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Cosby; a daughter, Shirley Marie Cosby; his parents, David Cosby and Theresa Cosby; and a brother, George LaCroix.

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Miller Cosby of Vicksburg; four sons, Aaron Cosby Jr., Milton Cosby, Bennie Cosby and Hyman Cosby, all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Annie Lucille Smith of Vicksburg and Frances Selena Reed of Belzoni; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Walter Doss Sr.

Services for Walter Doss Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with Larry Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the church.

Mr. Doss died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at his home. He was 52.

He was a former employee of Rouse Rubber Co. and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Doss of Vicksburg; one son, Walter Doss Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Sharon Denise Doss-Williams and Angela Renee Doss, both of Vicksburg; his parents, Eugene Sr. and Mary Lee Fuller of Vicksburg; two brothers, Wilbert Doss of Vicksburg and Tommy Doss of Memphis; one sister, Shelda Doss Thomas of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Elizabeth Flowers

UTICA Elizabeth Flowers died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the home of her granddaughter in Vicksburg. She was 95.

A resident of Utica, Mrs. Flowers was a retired farmer and an usher and mother at Second Union Baptist Church. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho and the Baptist Aide Program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and George Martin; two daughters, Doretha Davenport and Sadie Lee Burns; five brothers, Glover Cleveland, Charlie Martin, George Martin Jr., Wesley Martin and Ruthel Martin; four sisters, Ella C. Taylor, Melaine Evans, Eliza Price and Ida Mae Thomas; and a grandson, Eugene Deyamport Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Flowers of Utica; two granddaughters whom she reared, Deloris Jones of Freeport, N.Y., and Sadie Deyamport of Vicksburg; three great-grandchildren whom she reared, Gloria Stang of Uniondale, N.Y., Marilyn Appleton of Freeport and Larry Flowers of Vicksburg; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including the Martin, Brent, Burn, McGowan, Sanders, Thomas, Neal and Taylor families.

Westhaven Funeral Home in Utica has charge of arrangements.

Josephine Roland Meeks

Josephine Roland Meeks died Monday, March 8, 2004, at her home. She was 100.

Born in Bovina, Mrs. Meeks was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Meeks Sr.; four sons, Louis Meeks, Jr., Oliver Meeks, Edgar Meeks and Theodore Meeks; two daughters, Olivia N. Lindsey and Vera Meeks Lee; her parents, Edgar Roland and Mary Baker; and an aunt who reared her, Evelyn Zander.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond L. Meeks, Newton Meeks and James H. Meeks, all of Vicksburg; four daughters, Josie B. Meeks Orr of Pamona, Calif., Gladys Meeks Hackett of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Meeks and Lois Meeks, both of Vicksburg; 53 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Gertrude A. Scott

Gertrude A. Scott died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Vicksburg Trace Haven. She was 87.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Scott was retired from Enterprise Plumbing. She was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Scott; two brothers, Eddie Johnson and Willie Johnson; and three sisters, Lear White, Florida Johnson and Annie Lee Bunch.

Survivors include Elijah and Ernestine Johnson, Florence Harman and nieces, nephews and cousins.
