Porters Chapel erupts for 31 runs in rout of Greenville

[3/5/04]Porters Chapel Academy scored 10 runs in the first inning and racked up 18 hits in the game in a 31-0 shelling of Greenville Christian on Thursday. PCA, which improved to 4-0, has scored at least 10 runs in every game this season.

Michael Busby went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and four RBIs for PCA (1-0 in Conference 5-A), Josh Gain was 2-for-2 with a double and six RBIs, and Chip Lofton was 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs. Rob Quimby also drove in two runs, Justin Boler scored four runs, and Hayden Hales and Judd Mims got their first varsity hits.

Ryan Hoben, Gain and Dan Ivey combined on a one-hitter.

PCA coach Randy Wright pulled his starters after the second inning, and the Eagles’ backups still scored 17 runs.

PCA will play Washington and Canton Academy Saturday at 1 p.m. at Canton.
