Beatrice King Black

ACKERMAN Beatrice King Black died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Choctaw County Medical Center. She was 71.

A resident of Ackerman, Mrs. Black was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard G. Black; and her parents, Houston and Bertie King.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry Black of Ackerman, Gary Black of Piedmont, Ala., and Rickey Joe Black of Jackson; a daughter, Regina Liddell of Vicksburg; a sister, Tilda B. Worrell of Ackerman; a brother, H.D. King of Clarksdale; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery under the direction of Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman.

Louise Emma Mayberry

TALLULAH Louise Emma Mayberry died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 88.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Mayberry had lived in Madison Parish for 70 years. She was a retired manager for United Dollar Stores and was a member of Willow Bayou Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Mayberry; two sons, Robert Eugene Mayberry and Carlie Woodrow “C.W.” Mayberry; and a daughter, Juanita Mayberry.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Mayberry of Goodwill, La.; seven daughters, Joyce Herman of Phoenix City, Ala., Dorothy Rhodes and Annie Bell Kile, both of Shreveport, La., Emma White of Bedford, Texas, Frances Hampton of Ruston, La., Hattie Powers of Tallulah and Pauline Jinks of Delhi; two sisters, Irene Parker of Tallulah and Irma Parker of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Willow Bayou Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Gaston and Greg Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Keith Powers, Paul Powers, John Jinks, Rob Hampton, Steven Hampton, Dannie Herman, Jimmie Kile, David Kile, Brad Mayberry and Chad Meadors.
