Naomi McCloskey Paquette

Naomi McCloskey Paquette died today, April 5, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Born in New Orleans, Mrs. Paquette had been a Vicksburg resident since 1986. She was the daughter of Richard and Imelda Waldron McCloskey.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Greater New Orleans Propeller Club and the Louisiana Republican Party. She was a former member of the Mothers Club of DelSalle High School in New Orleans.

She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Pa-quette; two sons, Richard Charles Paquette and John Joseph Paquette II; and a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Naomi P. Cook of Vicksburg; a sister, Anna Marion Reid of Metairie, La.; and five grandchildren, James W. Cook Jr. of Vicksburg, Megan M. Cook of Dallas and Christian B. Paquette, Kelli C. Paquette and Paige L. Paquette, all of St. Rose, La.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home with a wake at 7.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Abraham, Bobby Bailess, Robert Moss, Paul Banchetti, Jerry Mayfield, Jimmy Kendrick, Joe Lambiotte, Peter Vincent, Joe Gerache and D.P. Waring.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Carr, Richard Lane, Robert “Bubba” Evans, David Hosemann, Albert Dornbusch, William Shappley, J.E. “Brother” Blackburn, Howard Waring, Dan Waring, David Barback, Dr. Dan Dare, Dr. Dan Edney, Dr. Thomas Sligh and Dr. V.N. Shenoy.

Julia Mae Nichols Preacely

Services for Julia Mae Nichols Preacely will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Preacely died Friday, April 2, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 86.

A resident of Vicksburg, she was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leymone Preacely Sr.; two daughters, Martha Preacely Martin and Doris Preacely Griffin; a son, Leymone Preacely Jr.; her parents, Elijah and Martha Nichols; two brothers, Jesse Nichols and Bernard Nichols; two sisters, Mary Garrison and Martha Jackson; and a granddaughter, Yancey Martin.

She is survived by a son, Leon Preacely of Jackson, a daughter, Artimease Preacely of Chicago Heights, Ill.; a sister, Sarah Pinkney of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
