Patricia Mathis Goings

TALLULAH Patricia Mathis Goings died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. She was 59.
Born in Delhi, Mrs. Goings had lived in Tallulah for 50 years. She was a beautician and homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Mathis; and her husband, Kenneth Goings.
She is survived by a son, Edward Goings of Chicago; two daughters, Theresa McCoy and Melissa Hawthorne, both of West Monroe; her father, Robert E. Mathis of Tallulah; three brothers, Sgt. Charles Mathis of Shreveport, Cleve Mathis of Monroe and Marlin Mathis of Ruston, La.; three sisters, Lillian Simms, Sally Welch and Betty Jo Young, all of Tallulah; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Welch, Robert Simms, Brian Mathis, Tommy Mathis, Eric Mathis, Mike Goings, Billy Goings and Corwayne Townsend.
Katie Spiller
PORT GIBSON Katie Spiller died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
A resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Spiller was a member and mother of Forrest Grove Christian Church and a member of Port Gibson No. 105, Heroines of Jericho.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Spiller; a son, Louis Spiller; and her parents.
Survivors include four sons, Freddie Spiller of Chicago, Arthur Spiller of Vicksburg, Roosevelt Spiller Jr. of Jackson and Andrew Spiller of Hermanville; three daughters, Annie R. Beasley and Suzette Gibson, both of Chicago, and Delores Spiller of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a sister, Mary Lee Dobbins and Waukegan, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Forrest Grove Christian Church with Anthony Berry officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at the funeral home and from noon Friday until the service at the church.
