Mary Stimage Davis

Services for Mary Stimage Davis will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Blanton Cemetery in Blanton. Burial will follow under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Columbia, S.C. She was 57.

Mrs. Davis was born in Sharkey County and graduated from Rosa Temple High School. She was a former member of Cool Spring M.B. Church.

She lived in Germany with her husband for a number of years, then moved to Columbia, where she had worked for the Joe E. Mann Recreational Center at Fort Jackson for the past 28 years. She was a member of Brookland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Davis; her mother, Della Stimage; two sisters, Deleslie Stimage and Betty Willis; and two brothers, John Lee and Leander Willis.

Survivors include a daughter, Demetrius Seawright of Columbia; a son, Henry F. Davis Jr. of Miami; three sisters, Della Deann Brown and Lisa Belinda Willis, both of Vicksburg, and Josie Johnson of Columbia; three brothers, Tommy Stimage and Billy Ray Willis, both of East Orange, N.J., and the Rev. Joseph Willis of Jackson; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dessica Ja’nay Noel

EDWARDS Dessica Ja’nay Noel died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 5.

Miss Noel was a resident of Edwards and a member of New Poplar Grove Independent Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Albert Pollard.

Survivors include her parents, Dexter Jerome Noel and Betty Pollard Noel, both of Edwards; a brother, Willie C. Barnes Jr. of Edwards; her maternal grandmother, Ora Pollard of Utica; paternal grandparents, Rosie Noel of Utica and Willie C. Noel of Harvey, La.; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Susie Mae Powell

Susie Mae Powell died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 66.

Mrs. Powell was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Powell Sr.; and a daughter, Joann Powell Warren.

Survivors include a son, Willie Powell Jr. of Los Angeles; three daughters, Lena Powell Chiplin, Susie Williams and Dorothy Chambers, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Louise Edwards of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Alma Jean Whitney

OAK GROVE Alma Jean Whitney died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 68.

Mrs. Whitney was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee and Elon Ashcraft.

Survivors include her husband, Harold O. Whitney of Oak Grove; a son, Mike Whitney of Oak Grove; a daughter, Beverly Whitney Bonner of Trophy Club, Texas; a brother, Doyle Ashcraft of Calico Rock, Ark.; a sister, Joyce Smith of Lake Providence; four grandchildren, Jared Whitney and Heather Whitney, both of Oak Grove, and Dustin Bonner and Derek Bonner, both of Trophy Club; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.

Pallbearers will be Gary Townsend, Chris Whitney, Keith Mayo, Larry Dartlon, Petey Raymond and Reek Ashcraft.
