Clifford Calvin Adams

TALLULAH Clifford Calvin Adams died Monday, April 19, 2004, at his home in Tallulah. He was 92.

Mr. Adams was born in Tallulah to the late Adrian Edward Adams and Caroline Montgomery Adams. He received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and attended LSU’s School of Law. He practiced law in Tallulah with the firm of Spencer, Sevier and Adams and was an assistant district attorney with Thompson L. Clarke before becoming judge of the sixth judicial district.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army in New Orleans, South Hampton and Callais.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Holt Adams; one son, William R. Adams; two brothers, William Ziegler Adams and Adrian Edward Adams Jr.; and three sisters, Myra B. Willett, Addison Brooks and Retta B. Sevier.

Survivors include a son, C. Calvin Adams Jr. of Tallulah; four grandsons, Dr. Cliff Adams III of Jackson, Miss., Dr. Edwin H. Adams of Monroe and Robert H. Adams and William M. Adams, both of Tallulah; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Ramon Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Adams III, Edwin H. Adams, Robert H. Adams, William M. Adams, Walter Scott III, Carneal Woodyear and Edward M. Adams.

Henry Andrew Jr.

LEXINGTON, Miss. Henry Andrew Jr. died Friday, April 16, 2004, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was 54.

Mr. Andrew was a resident of Lexington, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel Andrew; three sisters, Ruby Crockett, Ethelene Mayberry and Odessa Rucker; and a brother, A.C. Andrew.

Survivors include three sisters, Earnestine Gibson of Lexington, Mae P. Andrew of Vicksburg and Johnnie Mae Williams of Delta; four brothers, Jimmy Andrew and Robert Andrew, both of Yazoo City, Arthur Andrew of Lexington and Albert Andrew of Henderson, Texas; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Piney Springs M.B. Church in Lexington. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Porter & Sons Funeral Home in Lexington.

Albert Arnold McMullen Sr.

Albert Arnold McMullen Sr. died Monday, April 19, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.

A native of Cary, Mr. McMullen had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He was the son of the late Alfred O. and Sarah Elizabeth Edwards McMullen.

He attended Oak Ridge and Redwood schools, graduating in 1948 from Redwood High School. He worked for Spencer Chemical Co. for 12 years, retired in 1993 from Waterways Experiment Station and was employed by Kansas City Southern Railroad. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Godwin; four brothers, Onell McMullen, Edward McMullen, Leon McMullen and Clifton McMullen; and one grandson, Richard Leon McMullen Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Bliss McMullen of Vicksburg; two sons, Albert A. McMullen Jr. of Hattiesburg and Richard “Ricky” McMullen of Vicksburg; one daughter, Cynthia Joy Noble of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Lescallette, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Rodney McHann, Lonnie Hollowell, Mike Robinson, Donald Gould, David Stinson and Chris Tower.
