Luther E. Harvey

LAKE PROVIDENCE Luther E. “Buddy” Harvey died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home. He was 71.

Born in Mound, Mr. Harvey attended Tallulah High School. He was a resident of Lake Providence and was a farmer and an employee of the East Carroll Parish Police Jury.

Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Harvey and James H. Harvey, both of Belleview, Fla.; two daughters, Betty Harvey of Lake Providence and Jerry Lynn Harvey of Decatur, Ala.; his mother, Jewell Harvey of Tallulah; a sister, Faye H. Maxwell of Tallulah; a brother, William W. Harvey of Wausilla, Alaska; seven grandchildren; and other relatives, including Robert Harvey of Tallulah and David Harvey of Lake Providence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill McClain officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Fred Boughton, John Hoffman, Gerald Collins, Nicholas Harvey, Cody Harvey and Teagan Harvey.

Rev. Ebie McGee

OAKDALE, La. The Rev. Ebie McGee died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Oakdale Community Hospital in Oakdale, La. He was 88.

The Rev. McGee was born in Oakdale to Lucius “Frenchie” and Caroline Whitley McGee. He was a Southern Baptist minister for more than 60 years, pastoring for a number of years at Mound Baptist Church until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Oakdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McGee; five daughters, Betty Williams of Flora, Dorothy Sparks of Lake Charles, La., Clara Soileau of Glenmora, La., Carla Baker of Woodworth, La., and Barbara Grayson of Grand Prairie, Canada; two sons, David McGee of Port Gibson and Erie Glenn McGee of Oakdale; three sisters, Eva Odom, Christine Marcantel and Laura Byrd, all of Oakdale; and 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Oakdale with the Revs. Tony Robinson and Charles Robinson officiating. Burial followed at McGee Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home in Oakdale.

Pallbearers were Gene Fontenot, Gary Moore, Nathan Tate, Eddie Johnson, Cleveland Whitstine and Herbert McGee.
