Huey Allen Guice

EPPS Huey Allen Guice died Friday, April 30, 2004, in Epps. He was 68.

Born in Darnell, La., Mr. Guice was a resident of Epps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Eagleston Guice and Mary Magdelene Duckworth Guice; five brothers, Buster Guice, Harry Guice, Hixon Guice, Jeff Guice and Cecil Guice; and two sisters, Dorothy Guice and Myrtle Duckworth.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lonnette Mathews Guice of Epps; a daughter, Cindy McGrew of Shreveport; two sons, Rip Guice and Jeff Guice, both of Epps; one brother, Jake Guice of Pioneer, La.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Alvin Stowe officiating. Burial will be at Bayou Macon Cemetery in Darnell.

Pallbearers will be Billy Sims, Larry Lusk, Bobby Mathews, Allen Wayne Cowart, John Hale and Roger Mathews.

Mary L. Hart

SATARTIA Mary L. Hart died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City. She was 87.

A resident of Satartia, Mrs. Hart was a homemaker and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.N. “Sonny” Hart; a brother, William Lewis; and a sister, Marguerite L. Vaughan.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Marguerite Thomas of Satartia; a son, Irma Newell Hart of Yazoo City; a brother, James E. Lewis of Tyler, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Thomas of Vidalia, La.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and others, including Edna J. Hill of Satartia and Luella Ragan of Redwood.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Cresswell, Lewis Davis, David Edge, Stephen Edge, Johnny Nesbit and John McInnis.

Honorary pallbearers will be E.A. Smith, Ross Nesbit, Charles Hintson and Griffin Norquist.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.

Vicki D. Magruder

LYNN HAVEN, Fla. Vicki D. Magruder died Thursday, April 29, 2004, in Ocala, Fla. She was 41.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Magruder had lived in Tampa, Fla., before moving to Lynn Haven, Fla., eight months ago. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Magruder of Lynn Haven; three sons, Matthew Magruder, Micah Magruder and John Mark Magruder, all of Lynn Haven; her parents, William L. and Mary Sue Bishop of Vicksburg; two sisters, Debbie Jones and Karen Causey, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including the Magruder family of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Northside Baptist Church in Panama City with Jerry Moore and the Rev. Bruce Moore officiating.

Private services will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Southerland Family Funeral Home of Panama City. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.

Gertrude Stroud

DELHI Gertrude Stroud died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Delhi Hospital. She was 94.

Mrs. Stroud was born in Pollock, La., to Burgess Arthur Nolan and Mae White Nolan. She was a member of Epps Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Green Stroud; four brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond Stroud and Larry Stroud, both of Delhi, and Harold Stroud of San Jacinto, Calif.; three daughters, Glenda Cash of Delhi, Doris Stroud of Chicago and Elaine Finley of Tyler, Texas; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Jared Foreman officiating. Burial followed at Epps Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Billy Beavers, Tim Hegwood, Greg Thibodeaux, Toby Williams, David Cook and B.E. Pickett.
