Mary F. Owsley

Mary F. “Boots” Owsley died Monday, June 7, 2004, at her home. She was 75.

A native and lifelong resident of Warren County, Mrs. Owsley was the daughter of the late Acie and Maggie Cockrell Hearn. She was a retired nurse’s aide, having worked for The Sydney Home, Vicksburg Convalescent Home and in private duty.

Survivors include her husband, D.W. Owsley of Vicksburg; two daughters, Diane Dill and Susan Owsley, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Hubert Hearn of Vicksburg; three sisters, Dollie Taylor of Gulfport and Margaret Cockrell and Ann Robinson, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Wester, Wayne Dill, Michael Dill, Shane Kemp, Trey Owsley, Shannon Warnock, Hugh Guest, Harry Uzzle and George Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Wooten, George Dill and John Arnold.

Milton D. Stokes

GREENVILLE, Tenn. Milton D. Stokes died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Johnson City, Tenn. He was 62.

Formerly of Louisville, Miss., Mr. Stokes was a former resident of Greenville, Tenn. He was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a retired truck driver with Greene County Express Trucking of Greenville and was a member of Flagbranch Church of God in Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert V. and Minnie Stokes; a sister, Evelyn Stokes; and a brother, Darrel Stokes.

Survivors include a son, Robert D. Stokes of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Dorothy Livingston of Vicksburg, Betty Pecanty of Vidalia, La., and Becky Hatcher of Rolling Fork; and nieces and nephews.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vernon Assembly of God Church with Mark Thompson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home in Louisville.

Pallbearers were Dwight Baker, Darin Pecanty, Robert Sykes, Robert Sykes Jr., Jim Malone and Joe Irvin.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Michael L. Baker, employees of Green County Express Trucking, members of New Attitude Fitness Center in Greenville and employees at Citizens Bank in Johnson City.

Marion Sue Tatum

RUSTON, La. Marion Sue “Susie” Tatum died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Community Care Center in Ruston, La. She was 47.

Mrs. Tatum was a resident of Ruston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roland and Amanda Pauline Chandler.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Tatum of Ruston; a son, Travis Chandler Boyd of Ruston; a daughter, Jana Boyd Gulledge of Ruston; and two sisters, Rhonda Carnahan of Minden, La., and Linda Holley of Oak Grove.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Marshall Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joey Gulledge, Shane Carnahan, Lance Carnahan, Steven Carnahan, Wayne Holley and Robert Carnahan.
