Verna Ella Swarts
MIDLAND, Texas Verna Ella “Ladie” Swarts died Saturday, June 19, 2004, in Midland, Texas. She was 92.
Mrs. Swarts was born in Palo Pinto County, Texas, to the late Gus Amos and Rosa Elvira Ladd. She lived in Vicksburg for 50 years before moving to Midland. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and Midland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Swarts; and five brothers, Granvrial Ladd, DeVere Ladd, J.B. Ladd, Ross Ladd and Durwood Ladd.
She is survived by a brother, Lloyd “Bob” Amos Ladd of Midland; nieces, a nephew and other relatives.
Ellis Funeral Home in Midland has charge of arrangements.
Mary Virginia Pipkins Wilson
TALLULAH Mary Virginia Pipkins Wilson died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 73.
Born in Henderson, N.C., Mrs. Wilson had lived in Tallulah for 47 years. She was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, James Lee Wilson and Michael Glenn Wilson, both of Tallulah; three daughters, Barbara Wilson Copes of Rayville, La., Kathy Jobe of Tallulah and Brenda Allred of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Jobe, Steven Copes, Don Wells, Glenn Copes, Johnny Jobe and Michael Allred.
