James Earl Isaac

TALLULAH James Earl Isaac died Friday, June 25, 2004, at his home in Alsatia, La. He was 68.

Mr. Isaac was born in East Carroll Parish and lived in Alsatia for 44 years. He was a port engineer for ACBL in Greenville.

He is survived by his wife, Jeneve M. Isaac of Transylvania, La.; four sons, James Earl Isaac Jr., Bobby Ray Isaac and Jerry Wayne Isaac, all of Transylvania, and Charles Williams Isaac of Tallulah; four sisters, Jessie Ramshur and Christine Frey, both of Lake Providence, and Maggie Isaac and Ester Burgess, both of New Orleans; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Terry Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Bert Hamill

Bert Hamill died Friday, June 25, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 79.

Mr. Hamill was born in Sturgis, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1966. He was a retired plant manager and operator for Mississippi Power & Light Co.

He was a veteran of World War II, when he served in the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion. He was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Celia Kinard; and a brother, Samual Hamill.

He is survived by his wife, Clytee C. Hamill of Vicksburg; a son, Barry Hamill of Sturgis; three daughters, Rita Stringer of Collierville, Tenn., Karen Hamill of Vicksburg and Monica Coomes of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Hamill of Taylor, S.C., and Perry Hamill of Plano, Texas; one sister, Mary Ellen Fulgham of Starkville; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Posey Jr., Don McAuley, David Wells, Jack Jordan, Joe Key and Wyndell Jarvis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Six Sunday School Class of Bowmar Baptist Church and W.C. McAuley.

Amelia Hill Mitchell

Amelia Hill Mitchell died Friday, June 25, 2004, at River Region West Campus. She was 85.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Mitchell retired form the Vicksburg Police Department as a school crossing guard. She was a member of the New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Boyd; a daughter, Joyce Grissom; husbands, James Hill Sr. and William Mitchell; four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Julius Hill of Omaha, Neb., James Hill Jr. of Vicksburg and Michael Hill of Jackson; a daughter, Lillie Hill Mixon of Vicksburg; 25 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Judge Moody

MEMPHIS Judge Moody died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis. He was 80.

Formerly of Vicksburg, Mr. Moody was a retired barber.

He is survived by his wife, Marquerite Moody of Memphis; one son, Marvin Moody of Memphis; five sister, Lula Burks of Edwards, Mary Sutton and Laura Moody, both of Canton, Nettie Doss of Kosciusko and Ruth Byrdsong of Nashville; three brothers, John Moody of Cleveland, Ohio, John Moody of Redwood and Reuben Moody of Canton; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Memphis. Burial will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery under the direction of V.H. Bins and Son Mid-South Funeral Home.
