Gators advance to title game at AAU tourney

[7/9/04]Blake Tidwell singled in two runs during a four-run second inning Thursday, sparking the Vicksburg Gators to a 5-3 win over Madison Central at the Junior State AAU Tournament at Jackson Academy.

Stanton Price struck out eight and allowed three hits in seven innings to get the win. He walked seven, but brought home an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Patrick Gray also had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

The Gators, Vicksburg High’s summer team, are the only undefeated team left in the double-elimination tournament. They’ll play the winner between Northwest Rankin and Madison Central today at 5 p.m. for the title. If Vicksburg loses, the championship game will be Saturday at 1 p.m.
