Lila Mae Hickman

LONGVIEW, Texas Lila Mae “Mom” Hickman died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in Longview, Texas. She was 79.

The daughter of James and Pauline Wade, Mrs. Hickman was born and reared in Vicksburg. She was a former resident of Haynesville, La., and had lived in Longview for a number of years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hickman; and a son, Joe Oakes.

She is survived by three sons, Donnie Hickman, Jimmie Hickman and Jeffery Hickman, all of Longview; three daughters, Fran Williams, Linda Miller and Shirley McNaimee; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Athens, La.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Don May PORT GIBSON Don May died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at his home. He was 54.

A lifelong resident of Port Gibson, Mr. May was employed as an electrician and a plumber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Alma Bernice May; two sisters, Helen Ruth James and Bonita Hardin; and a brother, Charles May.

Survivors include a son, Donald Frank May of Port Gibson; a daughter, Pam Wallace of Meadville; two brothers, William May Jr. and Rod May of Port Gibson; four sisters, Myrtle Beard of Port Gibson, Hazel Mayo of Mobile, Ala., Pat Strange of Vicksburg and Evelyn Webb of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Donald Way officiating. Burial will follow at Fayette City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Martie Reese, Laney Reese, Michael Ellis, Dean Strittman, Tommy Ashley, Dale Arp, Dennis Wallace Sr. and Robert Davidson.

Louis Tyler

Louis Tyler died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at University Community Hospital in Tampa, Fla. He was 72.

Mr. Tyler was a former resident of Vicksburg, where he retired from the railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Tyler and Helen Ciller; three sisters, Natalie Lee Ciller, Ella Mae Myles and Lucinda Williams; one brother, Frank Ciller; and one son, George Tyler.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Tyler of Bowie, Md.; one son, Michael Tyler of Gaithersburg, Md.; four daughters, Wanda Faye Tyler and Louise Tyler, both of Bowie, Tracey Tyler of Laurel, Md., and Gloria Tyler of Tampa; a brother, George Lacey of Vicksburg; and eight grandchildren.

Williams Funeral Services has charge of the arrangements.
