John Wallace braves working in Tuesday’s soaring heat to swing a sledgehammer toward building a retaining wall in front of the home at 2711 Drummond St. Wallace said the front lawn has been slowly washing away and last month’s heavy rain worsened the problem. Wallace, who was hired by the home’s owner to build the wall, said he expects to finish by the end of the week.
