Mildred G. Davis

Mildred G. Davis died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was 57.

Ms. Davis graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in 1964 and received a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Tougaloo College in 1971. She attended the University of Mississippi and became a certified paralegal.

She was a member of Jackson St. M.B. Church and was a paralegal for Don Evans Law Firm.

Ms. Davis was an active member of the Mississippi Association of Legal Assistants and the National Association of Legal Assistants. She served as a seminar speaker for Clearwater Information Systems.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Davis Sr.

Survivors include her son, Maurice Davis of Vicksburg; her daughter, Florence Davis Miles of Slidell, La.; her mother, Florence Cameron Davis; her brother, Fred Davis Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Betty Davis Brown of Syracuse, N.Y., and Margaret Davis of Los Angeles; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

John H. Reed Jr.

Services for John H. Reed Jr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Christian Home M.B. Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 85.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Reed; four sisters, Mattiel Kline, Roberta Brown, Josephine Wolfork and Clara Reed; four brothers, Broden Reed, Robert Reed, Donald Reed Sr., and David Reed Sr.

Survivors include his brother, Walter Reed Sr. of Vicksburg; a niece, Patricia Shelley of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Melvin McFarland, Annie Reed, Gloria Reed and Gladys Reed, all of Vicksburg, and the Lewis, Miles, Walker and Donerson families.
