Koestler, an outfielder, had a double, two RBIs and three runs scored in game one. That victory gave the Lady Eagles (17-6, 9-0) the district championship. The district tournament is Sept. 11 in Jackson.

“Katie Koestler carried us that game,” PCA coach Mike Grzanich said. “She’s slowly been coming on this year. I moved her to the outfield and told her all the outfielders have to do is swing the bat.”

Annie Beaugh also had two hits in the first game, Kory Miller had a double and Lauren Johnson went 3-for-5. Johnson also held Veritas to three hits and struck out 10 to earn her 15th win of the season.

Koestler went 1-for-2 before leaving in game two, but Amy Beaugh went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs as PCA completed the sweep. The Lady Eagles took advantage of seven Veritas errors and jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.

“You take out those errors and it would have been a little bit closer ballgame,” Grzanich said. “They just kind of self-destructed.”
