Charlotte Adams
Services for Charlotte Adams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Mayfield Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
A wake service will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Adams died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 94.
A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion M.B. Church No. 4.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Adams; a brother, C.W. White; a sister, Exelene Mickey; and her parents, Frank Aytch and Isabella Whit.
Survivors include a son, James Adams of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Sadie James of Vicksburg; nieces and nephews; and 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
Murray D. Beard Sr.
McCOMB Murray D. Beard Sr. died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was 75.
A resident of McComb, Mr. Beard was a graduate of Mississippi College where he played baseball and basketball. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was discharged as a sergeant. He and his wife were former owners of Park Drive Foods.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis M. and Lola Nunnery Beard.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Widman Beard of McComb; three sons, Murray Beard Jr. of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Jeff Beard of Miramar, Fla., and Bill Hamrick of Jackson; a daughter, Debbie Barfield of Vicksburg; four brothers, Jerry Beard of Vicksburg, Jack Beard of Birmingham, Ala., Billy Beard of Stockton, Ala., and Jimmy Beard of Exmore, Va.; a sister, Barbara Ann Miller of Ripley; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Lynch officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Catchings Funeral Home in McComb.
Pallbearers were Mel Ratcliff, Jack Nunnery, Brandon Beard, Johnny Johnson, Rick Johnson and Joe Pezant.

Perry Colvin Palmer
Perry Colvin Palmer died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 80.
A native of Augusta, Ark., Mr. Palmer had lived in Vicksburg since 1927. He was the son of the late Perry Waymon Sr. and Ella R. McKinsey Palmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe. He was a commercial fisherman and retired from Local 619 Plumber and Pipe-fitters Union after 50 years.
Mr. Palmer was a master mason with W.H. Stevens Lodge No. 121 and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Mauck; and a brother, Perry Waymon Palmer Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Alice H. Palmer of Vicksburg; a son, Barney Owens of Vicksburg; a daughter, Perri Marie Steed of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and others, including John Mauck of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Unity Baptist Church in Pattison with the Rev. Darrell White, pastor of Wayside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home and from 3 p.m. until the service at the church. Masonic rites will follow.
Pallbearers will be Barney Owens, Pet Bolls, John Mauck, Odis Lowery, James McDonald and Billy Ainsworth.

Lillie Mae Price Pickens
Services for Lillie Mae Price Pickens will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. J.D. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mrs. Pickens died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 68.
Mrs. Pickens was a resident of Vicksburg and was a retired LPN for Beckwith Nursing Home in Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Price; and two brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Pickens of Vicksburg; a son, Chester Pickens of Maywood, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Lydia Pickens of Paris, France, and Karla Pickens of Elgin, Ill.; two sisters, Erma Price Belton of Madison and Betty Price Reddix of Vicksburg; four brothers, Willie Price and Theodore Price, both of Vicksburg, Joe Price of Chicago and George Price of Bossier City, La.; and three grandchildren.
C.W. Thompson
Services for C.W. “Jack” Thompson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at St. James Church Cemetery in Edwards.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Mr. Thompson died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at his home. He was 51.
Mr. Thompson was a security guard for North American. He was the son of the late R.C.W. and Daisy Thompson, and he attended Hinds AHS.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Thompson Collins of Vicksburg; a sister, Fannie Thompson of Edwards; and an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Wanda Anderson.
